LUZ LETELIER, MD

Dr. Letelier achieved her undergraduate medical education at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica (PUC) in Santiago, Chile. Luz worked for 5 years as a general practitioner in a small southern town and returned to Santiago for her residency training in Internal Medicine at the PUC. In 1995 she took a faculty position in the Department of Internal Medicine at PUC at the clinical teaching unit of a public hospital, Sotero del Rio and worked as a general internist in the ICU and internal medicine ward. Luz spent from 1999 to 2001 at McMaster University learning how to practice & how to teach EBHC. Back in Chile has led the teaching and practice of EBCP at the PUC and other hospitals and universities in Chile as well as other Latin-Americans countries. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2002 and to Associate Professor in 2006 in the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr Letelier has been active in the How to Teach EBCP course at McMaster since 2004 when the initiative to have a Spanish speaking group inside the workshop, first started.

GORDON GUYATT, MD
 
Professor, Department of Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics

Dr. Guyatt‘s areas of interest include the dissemination of concepts of evidence-based medicine to health workers and health-care consumers; the measurement of health-related quality of life; clinical trials methodology; overview methodology; and medical decision-making. Dr. Guyatt has been a leading exponent of evidence-based approaches to clinical practice, having coined the term “evidence-based medicine” in 1990.

PETER WYER, MD
 
Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Emergency Medicine, Columbia University

Dr Peter Wyer is the founder and director of an interdisciplinary evidence-based health care collaboration at the New York Academy of Medicine.  He has overseen several innovative instructional series' related to EBM in peer reviewed journals including Annals of Emergency Medicine, CMAJ and the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and is a contributing author of the Users' Guides to the Medical Literature. He is currently engaged in education research initiatives pertaining to EBM within a collaborative working group at Columbia University Medical Center.
